Pre Shed Water Dish Lounging?

Hey everyone,

I was curious what everyone's thoughts were on the amount of time that your ball spends in water prior to shedding?

I fed my adult ball on Sunday afternoon. He got in the water dish almost immediately after feeding and then spent the rest of that the day, the entire night and apparently all of today (Monday) in his water dish.

Does this sound normal?

He's a full grown adult male, but I've only had him for three weeks...so I haven't had him through a shed yet. I imagine this is a pre-curser to a shed...don't know what else it could be...

How much time they spend soaking is variable, but that seems like a lot. That can be a sign of mites.

Use miticide to be safe but I would make sure th 3-4 days after eating that the snake is at least room temp to warm. Reason being if snakes are too cold the food can rott in thier stomachs if not hot enought. Also take ur snake out and feel the gut see if it feels warm he or she my be trying to cool off from extreme acid chem reaction innits stomach. But always try to keep ur snake some what warm after eating make auee ur hot side temp ia good and check the temp of the water It rests in. Ur snake may be doing whats best. It is also possible it felt heavy and booated so it opted for a zero gravity feel of water. Snakes like anancondas feel weightless in water so they perfer it. I would say check three temps. Ambient hot side and water temp. If its dry and humid where u stay u will see the snake in there alot. Im in cali and my snakes are rarely in thier water bowls
