I'd actually say the Pastel look is pretty darn good.... a tad better than the Fire. I'd pair with a 0.1 Fire.
Only a 0.1 Firefly here. I think she's a good looker in both Pastel/Fire for comparison.

Also I'm not sure how we came to the conclusion this guy has low expression on the Fire gene? The melanin poking through (tipping) would absolutely be low expression on the Pastel gene. I might be confused on that though, if any one cares to clarify.
I mean Fires are still golden "brown", I guess they would have more xanthin than a normal ball but they are not showing extreme hypo melanistic tendencies by any stretch, no?

coreydelong beauty of a girl there. Now she is much more blushed out than my snake, that is the quality Pastel expression, correct. The bright yellow base color is the Fire gene working in tandem with Pastel gene, the tendency to stay free of dark "muddy" browns is also the Fire. Am I incorrect? I have no problem learning some new stuff. I can talk reptiles all day long.

The "flames" coming up the sides in the banding are the Fire gene. You also get a little head pattern as well. Your pic does not show much flames at all.
It could actually be just a really decent Pastel.....

I'm pretty certain the OP's is a Firefly. Mine doesn't have much in the way of flames either and I'm sure he's a Firefly. The yellows in a Firefly are a little different than a normal Pastel...

Breed him! A friend of mine has a butt ugly male bumble bee. You would think he's a spider. But he throws the prettiest bumble bee babies around. High white with a lot of yellow and deep black bands! Don't let the looks of a particular animal keep you from breeding it.
