*PLEASE HELP* I don't know what happened

Today my BP struck at me.. He has been acting very unusual lately. I noticed it a couple weeks ago the morning after I fed him. He is usually very docile and likes to hide in his big tree hide. Normal, when he has his head stuck out from it and I walk by he hides away. After I fed him a couple weeks ago I noticed that in the morning after instead of going back in his hide like he usually does, he came right out and began watching every move I made. He followed me moving and he looked to be in a striking pose. I left him a lone for another two day, took him out and he was fine.
Today when I got home he was climbing around his cage and all and so I decided I wanted to hold him for a bit. I didn't even get the screen off and he struck at my hand with the screen still between us. I was shocked because he has not done this before.. I have no idea what has happened to him. This was just so sudden. Any ideas why he is acting this way? I want to be able to keep him but I do not want an aggressive snake.. Thank you.

    Humidity is 50%-60%
    Temperature is 85 degrees
He has plenty of hides and lots of cramped up space.
Small sized frozen mice once a week
He actually just got done with shed. I know that with snakes you have to expect some of this but it just was so sudden of a change.. Is it normal?

Yeah I know I am prepared to get bitten some day. I am not sure how old he is but he is about a foot long maybe.
I just fed him on Wednesday. He is eating small sized frozen mice. I feed him once a week.

Could he still be hungry? What are you feeding him? Not normal to be out during the day......if he is then something is probably wrong...? I am pretty new to bps as well.....so not sure....but good luck.

Maybe try feeding a larger prey and increase his feedings to every 5 days and see if that helps.

My best thought at the moment is to watch him. Also when getting him out or that if he's going to strike or you feel like he is then make your non grabbing hand flat and use it as a shield you should only get a head bump.

Giving a length for size is rather meaningless. Get a digital kitchen scale and find out how much he weighs in grams. I'm also not sure what you mean by "small sized frozen mice" - are you feeding pinkies, fuzzies, hoppers, small adults, or ? Because if you're following the advice of the big box store where you bought him (I found your other threads) then he's very likely been underfed.

This time of year BP's tend to start feeding if they didn't eat much over the winter. Yours may be just hungry. If so this would be an ideal time to make the switch from mice to rats - offer one f/t mouse as usual, and then while he's still in "food mode" follow up with a warmed f/t rat pup.
