Re: Carpet time!
What lines are you working with in your Axathic projects?
I want some that don't fade out over time. I'm also torn between IJs or Coastal lines.
Just got these two in a bit ago.
Better pics to come.

They're from 2 separate lines of animals I have.........one since 88 (founders of those animals goes back to the 70s as "Atherton Tableland" animals) and the others, are VPI animals I purchased in the mid 90s as "New Guinea" Carpets.
They didn't look like what we know as IJ/WPs now. Always been questionable about what they really were. I've been told every story in the book about possible origins, etc......at the end of the day, they're some dang nice Carpets. Haha. I do know that there was animals being sold in the late 80's/ early 90s as New Guinea's and fit the description of my animals and not animals actually from IJ
I've been breeding both "lines" for years and, I always get Axanthic Type animals showing up in the Atherton clutches. I always thought it was just a natural color variation. Over the years I can look back and see the ratios of silver animals vs. animals that "have color" in the same clutches.
So, I need to get a little more serious about tracking down what's going on. I sorta put the carpets on the back burner for the last several years as I've been focusing more on the BHPs.
The NG line.....Man, I get Jungle types, Caramel types, axanthic types, Jag look a likes....seems every morph that's out there...this line seems to throw.
One thing we have to consider with these older lines is that... they make up the foundation of A LOT of the current captives (as there wasn't a whole lot of carpets brought in to begin with. Most of it from Zoo stocks...dating back 25/35 years or more.)
Anyway, I'm gonna try and figure out whats up with em this next year as I'll have some old enough to try. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers,
D

Thanks! He was produced at Psychotic Exotics, we also picked up a het Granite Jag girl from them.
Ok being in the states, I would love to work with those silver / Axathic type lines. Yes please do keep us posted.
I still have a ton to learn with Carpets but I fell hard for them a couple of years ago. Great snakes!
