who uses water bowls and who dont

They will die of dehydration long before they do of hunger.

thats basically it. they drink more often than they eat. and while you cannot give them 24/7 access to a rhodent, you can give them 24/7 access to water.

ive alread seen a thread asking if they need a substrate, and another thread asking if hides are required. and now the water bowl is under debate. im fine with keeping it simple, but a water bowl has to be one of the essentials.

This is kind of what I mean by them already being simple creatures, and not being willing to cut it down to the absolute 'won't kill the snake' minimum.

Do I believe they will DIE without hides, substrate and a water bowl? No. I understand that they're reptiles and not exactly complex creatures. I get that all they need is fed once in a while, the right temps and humidity and cleaned up after. But at some point it becomes spartan to the degree that it's just SAD. Yes, sad for me, but still sad. I'm not breeding. These are just my pets. But keeping them in an empty warm box just...depresses me. Getting a drink of water when they want one and having a secure place to curl up isn't overly complicated, I don't think, or beyond the realm of reason to provide.

I was in Petco today and saw a BP soaking in the dish. Probably has something to do with them not keeping the humidity high enough!!

Or it has mites.

I've seen all of my snakes drink, even the ones that are not fasting. There is no reason to leave an animal without access to clean water.

Different section too, because MOST beepers aren't swimmers, but what about anacondas? Mine soak darn near constantly. No no because of mites, but they are a very water friendly species. I even gave my big yellow girl a 4' kiddie pool in her tub. She swims in that thing all the time.

And on a more basic note: if one cannot provide something as simple as a water bowl due to cost or for one less thing to clean, perhaps a pet rock is more your speed lol.

All snakes should have access to water 24/7. It really shouldn't even be questioned whether or not they should have one.

All of mine have water bowls. I catch them drinking quite often. I think they should always have access to fresh water.

This is one one of those basic questions that needs to be answered before you even think about getting any pet, "am I able to give this animal shelter, proper temps and WATER? If the answer is no to any of those then don't buy the animal in the first place!

This is basically it. I can't think of a single reason besides laziness for not having a water dish in the cage.
