Last week i fed my little BP a live fuzzy but was more a pinky then a fuzzy. But he ate it with no problems. He constricted it but didnt kill it. So he took it down while it was still alive. I am sure it not stilll alive LOL. but has anyone else had this happen?
    Thanks,
    Damien

Yeah, that's happened to me before. I think they realize that it is such a small prey item, and they don't need to put forth the effort to really kill it. Just my thoughts on it. Who knows though... As long as it isn't a full grown mouse or hopper, and it wasn't kicking and biting, I wouldn't think there is too much of a problem. Just try to get him on dead prey.

He eats dead prey already but i figured it was just a pinky and he would not have a problem since then he has graduated up to hoppers. Maybe in 4 weeks i will switch to small mice fresh killed of course.
    Thanks,
    Damien

Well I dont think being constricted until your eyes pop out and your lungs wont expand could be any worse. But it's gotta stink to be on the bottom of the food chain.

I actually read up some on contrictor snakes; I always thought that they killed by constricting and death from suffocation. The article actually said that the prey dies of circulatory arrest before a lack of oxygen. Interesting stuff....I guess its all kind of the same thing.
