    Tunnel system?

Hey I was wondering could I use flex- hose to make borrows through the substrate in my ball pythons cage. I would probably have 3 or 4 entrances. Would this be ok to add more hides? Would this simulate living in rodent borrows in the wild? I would probably use flex-hose that is 4" wide.(almost two times the width of the ball python)

    Hi,

Main problem is you wouldn't be able to get them out of it in an emergency.

Cleaning could also be an ongoing problem.

I always use hides I can lift off them easily to avoid them getting stuck etc.

Trust me from personal experience: you wouldn't be able to get them out. I tried something like this back in the day with pvc pipe. Didnt see my snake for a month

if the individual pieces are not too long and you just plug the pieces together using Y-connectors and X-connectors, getting the snake out would be no problem.

but i think to bury something like this we would be talking about a really unusually deep layer of substrate. i also see ongoing cleaning problems.

a different idea: hang shorter pieces of transparent tube into the enclosure, so that the BP can climb over them or through them. that could be interesting.

    Re: Tunnel system?

I was thinking about this too. I was thinking of cutting a card board shipping tube length wise and just kinda laying them around with substrate about half way up. That way you can still lift them. Not to mention cheap and diposable.

    Re: Tunnel system?

I use long pieces of PVC pipe (3" i think)for a couple of my corns, i clean them out with a wadded up washcloth and a push stick lol. Stuff some substrate in one end, simulates a rodent burrow....
