    ball python housing emergency?!

Alright so I have my 1 year old BP in one of the Zilla 20gal long terrariums with a sliding lid. And my dumb 15 lb cat decided that he was going to sit his fat butt on top of it and broke the flimsy wire mesh (luckily with no harm to the snake). I looked online and they don't sell replacement lids ugh. I've tried duck taping it back together, it keeps the snake in but wont support the weight of his heat lamp. So now I have nowhere to put him.

I was thinking I could run out and buy a plastic tub for him? what size would i need? The problem with that is how am I supposed to keep him warm? I don't know if I can afford buying a heat mat for a couple days.. This sucks, please help ):

With a tub, u need a 41 qt tub with about six inches tall. Use heat tape. What I made for a make shift lid on my tank in I took some close square wire mesh with about centimeter space between each wire and ill post a pic to show what it looks like

Did you try your local petco or petsmart? They usually carry replacement lids

If I'm remembering right those screen tops use a spline to hold in the wire screening just like a normal window screen. you could buy a new screen and some spline at home depot and repair it yourself. very simple you just cut a piece a little bigger then the lid then wedge the new spline in the crack to hold it in place. trim off the leftover screen that hangs out and your done. they have a little tool to put the spline in it looks like a little mini pizza cutting wheel. but you could use a butter knife or something like that to wedge it in. if your not handy most glass shops will put new screens in frames.

I don't think I have seen a slide in lid at the pet shops. Have you tried one of the lids that sit on top with clips? I'm sure they would return it if it didn't work.

For the heat lamp go to petsmart or other pet store and get a lamp stand. They have both kinds at petsmart. One uses double sided tape for the side of the tank and the other sits under the tank and both are adjustable to move up or down. then you can repair your lid and when you take it off the lamp stays.
