Ball Python Vs. RI

[b] I was wondering if anybody can agree with me, If any of you had to take care of a sick snake before maybe you can relate to me and what im about to say but my snake just recovered from RI and he didnt eat for about 2 months and today (5/12/03) he just ate his first fuzzy mouse. Isnt it the greatest feeling to know that your ball is back to perfect health? Instead of going out and buying a brand new ball, I spent about 125$ on medical bills and Fortaz so that he could recover. It was well worth the money and sticking my little guy with a needle every 3 days (which i hated).

I've experienced RI a few times.

I had a small break out this year but caught it at it's beginning stages. A window was left open which is by the cages, the cold air entered the vents, RI set in. I put them all into a single cage so I could monitor all temps and humidity perfectly. I cleared up the RI myselfy just got put back into their own cages today.

And you're right, it is a good feeling.

By the way, since RI is viral and viruses mutate both over time and from host to host, you should isolate sick animals, even when more than one appear to have the same illness from the same source because otherwise you are asking for them to repeatedly reinfect each other and for the virus to successfully evade treatment. Then you can end up with all your animals dead very easily.
