My first ball python! advice please!?

    hello,

i am looking into getting my first ball python within the next few weeks, i have seen alot of conflicting things on the internet with regards to everything from what morphs you shouldnt get as a first to housing etc and was hoping you guys could help me....

I have a soft spot for spiders and managed to find a spider hatchling, but got told that i shouldnt keep a ball python with the spider gene as a first snake. due to issues with wobble head syndrome, and their eating tendencies... but then i was also told i shouldnt bother with a hatchling and get an adult. which confuses me :/. as i quite like the idea of growing them up to know me. I have also seen a woman trying to rehome a 9 month old royal would that be better than a youngster?

also there are people who keep them in 32l rubs, and others who say wooden vivariums are best... and there are arguments on both sides... any help would be very much appriciated

I just want to chime in on the last part since sho220 took care of all your questions.

I personally like PVC terrariums (like Animal Plastics) because I like to stare at a bowl and a hide. If you want something pleasing to look at, i'd recommend checking them out. They're pretty light and easy to clean.

do what you think will work best for you, i went back and forth between tubs or actual tanks and decided to go with tubs. they hold humidity well, temps stay where they need to be and the snakes are happy. they eat, shed and chill. as for getting a baby or a more adult thats completely up to you they live very long and it depends if you want to raise one or just have one that already has size and you dont have to worry about it growing anymore. good luck
