What Kind Of Aspen Do You Use?

well while cleaning out my snakes out it hit me that there are a bunch of people that use aspen as bedding. now the question is where do you get your aspen from and what brand do you get? i normally use newspaper but switch back and forth once in a while.

For my BPs in the rack system I use paper towel. But my 1st BP and Corn snake I use Zoomed Aspen bedding. I find it at pretty much any expo and decent pet store.

Re: What Kind Of Aspen Do You Use?

My corns get a 50/50 mix of zoo-med and the pet-store brand aspen (wherever i happen to buy it, i've used kay-tee and sun-seed so far, petsmart has a huge bag of 'great choice' for $15 or so, might try that next), so far my bp is on just the zoo-med stuff (baby ~110g). I'm thinking of changing to newspaper for the bigger snakes though....

I use the same harlan j94712 posted. It's a very good deal for the price and it seems to be a very "clean" aspen. Haven't found any critters in my bag yet. I use aspen for my rats and some of my snakes.

Re: What Kind Of Aspen Do You Use?

    In order of prefence:

    Harlan teklad
    Petsmart brand
    Pecto brand

Depends on where I am when I need Aspen. Petco brand is shaved and the other 2 are shredded. The shredded works better for clumping/cleaning and making tunnels for snakes that burrow fully, the shaved is nice for the BPs/bigger snakes to cover themselves in when they want to burrow.
