Incubation

Greetings..... I am expecting my first clutch of eggs in about 5 weeks (if everything goes according to plan) and I have a question about incubation. My home made wine cooler incubator has been sitting dormant since spring and I'm getting ready to fire it up. So here's my question - do I control the temp/humidity in the entire 'Bator or just the egg tub? I've heard about it being done both ways. My plan is to run it 2 weeks one way and 2 weeks the other and see which way does better for me. Any thoughts? If it makes a difference it's a good size incubator (like a 12 bottle wine cloor) and I'm using a Herpstat 1.

I have only incubated one clutch, but it seemed to have gone flawlessly-i measured both but my main focus was inside the egg tub at 89 degrees. pipped on day 56 and came out big and healthy.

Humidity in the incubator itself does not matter what is important is the humidity in the egg box, as for the temps what matter are the temps in the egg box as well which might differ from the temps in the incubator itself.

This is why your readings need to be made in the eggbox. Setting up a dummy box ( set like your real egg box) with a digital thermometer/hygrometer will help you monitor all that.

ok so i guess i dont know anything really about incubating bp eggs. i just got a rescue group of bps and the males and females were mixed together. only one females seems to be pregers. i was thinking about ordering the hatchrite incubator. will that be good enough or should i go a dif route? when i do order one do i need to have a 'egg box' in it? what exactly is an egg box? i know i dont really have a clue as to what im doing, but i want this girl to make it threw this lay and produce good eggs, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
