Feeding question
Quick question about feeding.
I have a male Mojave and a female Pastel. The male is on a 2 week strike, no worries. I thawed out two rats this week, the male refused. I offered the second rat to my female and she gobbled that one up too. This is the second week that has happened. Is it acceptable to feed her that much? I wouldn't mind her getting her to breeding size a little faster .
My pastel female is 1087 grams.
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: Feeding question
I wouldn't worry about it. If she's hungry, let her eat. Whats the weight of the prey you're offering?

Re: Feeding question
Like Misha said, as long as she's willing to eat, no worries. Let her eat!

Re: Feeding question
I will have to weigh them the next time I feed her. They are small rats though

Ok next question
I want to get her weight up before I start pairing them. Should I continue to offer her two of them as long as she continues to take them?

Re: Feeding question
What is her age.... that matters just as much if not more than her weight?

Re: Feeding question
To me age matters more than weight. If she wants to eat it let her. How old are they? Your boy is probably starting to think about girls more than food right now which if he's a mature boy makes sense. My girl is eating a ton right now and she's 4 yrs.

The female is from Area 51 Exotics and I got her in the mail in August 2011. She is 1090 grams as of last night. This was her third winter. The male is roughly 6-7 months older than her at 890 grams. I got him from the Charleston Repticon. Last night I did feed them. Both of the rats were about 57 grams. The male refused and the female ate both of them. I am planning on pairing them soon, it sounds like they both are expecting it too with the fasting from the male and the aggressive feeding from her. How long should I wait after feeding to pair them?

Re: Feeding question
Two small rats for a 1,000 gram snake is about right...pair them when you want, and keep feeding her heavily till she starts refusing.
