He's drinking, you're just not catching him in the act...

The only time I catch a glimpse of mine drinking is after a feeding once their water has been changed. Other than that I would never have guessed aside from the water level dropping ever so gradually.

    Re: Wont drink?

I was just wondering so thanks for the advice! i guess its that new parent instinct to worry haha i also have a question about the temperature in the cage. i have 75wt day and night bulbs and i have a large log that is in the perfect position for him to bask on and he spends all of his time in his hide that has a heat pad under it. I've also tried to catch him out and exploring at night and he never leaves the hide.

What are the temperatures in your tank? Humidity levels? Those are the two environment factors you'll need to know.

He'll probably spend far more of his time inside his hide than basking on that log. It's what they do. Some of them are more skittish than others, so if you just got him he may tuck himself away in that hide for a few more days until he's comfortable with his new surroundings.

Check the temps and humidity to make sure his surroundings are in good shape. If those are in good shape, he'll come out when he's ready.

Mine absolutely never comes out during the day. But if i check on him a few hours after all the light are out at night, he's all over the place. Used to worry me, but now just realize that's normal.

Ball pythons don't bask, they get their warmth from belly heat, lights aren't really needed unless u wanna boost the ambient. But I don't bother cuz it's a pain already keeping the humidity up.

    Re: Wont drink?

Ball pythons are nocturnal. They get their heat from residual ground heat. A hiding ball is a happy ball. They're not the best display animals because they do prefer to hide.

My BPs rarely drink. They get most of their essential moisture from their prey.
