Question on Price and Genes
Greetings all,
I recently saw a sterling female that I liked and was considering putting a down payment on. However, before making the decision I tried to find if the price being asked was worth it or not. I checked on kingsnake, and I couldn't find anything. What would someone estimate that a Sterling female would cost?
Also, when dealing with genetics, is super pastel considered to be a "two gene" animal? I only ask because the person selling the sterling billed it as a 3 gene animal, and WoBP just says that super pastels are co-dom pastel. I understand that they are the "super" form of pastel, but I just want to make sure that I'm understanding the terminology right. Supers are considered two-gene?

Re: Question on Price and Genes
depending on a lot of factors a baby sterling female should be around $600-$700.
Some people count a super as 1 gene because they are counting unique genes and some people count it as two because the snake carries two copies of the pastel gene. I don't know that one can be considered "right" over the other as I don't know who would have the authority to make the proclamation. There is no AKC for snakes.

Thanks, Jay. I think you may have just made my decision for me. a 150-200 gram female for $450 seems pretty good now.
And as far as genes go, I think I'd probably be considered in that 1 gene category, but I understand now the rationality behind calling it a two gene.
