    Getting Blood soon.

So I am really interested in getting a blood but I have a couple of questions. I've been doing the research and I really want to get a red blood. I currently have a rack system for my ball python. Balls and bloods seem to have the same heat and humidity requirements, so would it be OK to keep them in the same rack system? Also it's a 28 quart tub, how long can I keep a baby in one of those? And from what I read they really don't have any extra special requirements except for lots of water since they drink a lot is this true? And any other information would be greatly appreciated

Blood Pythons require a bit higher humidity than Ball Pythons. As far as temps go, we keep our BP's in the same room with our Bloods and Short-Tails with ambient temps and they all do very well. One thing that you should do if it's possible is provide your Blood Python with the largest water source that you can. These guys like to soak a lot when given the opportunity. Now, if you aquire a hatchling, a 28qt is quite large. If this is your only option, be sure to provide the little guy/gal with a good hide, and even crumple up newspaper to fill the big empty void of space. When they're babies they need to feel secure, or they will likely not eat well. Depending on how frequently you feed, you could likely keep a Blood Python in a 28qt until they are about yearling age. Again, it depends on how frequent you feed. Good luck on your future new addition!

I plan on feeding once a week. But I know with balls they recommend feeding young ones every 5 days is it the same with bloods? They like 60% humidity right cause my tubs are naturally at like 65% so my balls have holes in their tubs. I have a lot of hides from moving my ball python up sizes lol I want to get a male since they stay slightly smaller what size enclosure do they usually need full grown?

We feed hatchlings every 7-10 days.
60% humidity should work just fine. If you see him shedding in pieces though I'd try to crank it up a bit. They should shed whole.
An adult male should fit fine a 41 quart comfortably.

If you're looking for just a nice red, Kevin Marter has some beautiful animals. Kara and Ryan Norris have some very red animals as well.

    Re: Getting Blood soon.

If this will be your 1st Python brongersmai I'd suggest buying directly from a breeder and asking about the disposition of the animal in question..( They are a good bit more snake than balls)..I would think a last seasons baby would be your best bet as its been in the world for a bit.. If you happen to be a facebook user you could join the Blood python classifieds and or the short tail classifieds.. This will allow you to shop and ask questions from a number of individuals who breed the species.. There is a good many good people and you can get a feel for whats up on FB..
