    heat issues

Hi im new here. Ive no snake yet so experimenting. Im using a wooden viv just short of 2 foot, im using a 150w ceramic and I can achieve a hotspot of 32 - 34oc without a hide directly on top of it, the hide placed directly next to it achieves roughly 29oc inside, my main concern is the ambient temps at ground level I can achieve 25oc roughly but from about six inches up my ambient are correct at 27 - 29oc. My main question is and I have hunted the internet for answers, where should my ambient probe be placed, ground level or can it go about six inches up?

A probe for a thermometer is usually suggested near the cage floor about an inch away from it.

A probe for a thermostat will depend on the cage, heat source location and the type of fixture.

Some pics and a better description could help us help you more.

150 watt for 2 FT enclosure seems like way to much. You will fry him and make keeping it humid impossible,IMO.

For that size you shouldnt need anything higher then 100watt,actually 100 watt should be perfect.

id place the thermostat a few inches from the bottom of the tank up,about 3" and I'd keep it just about dead center of the enclosure.
