So, I had the brilliant idea that many snake owner have had. I was going to film our bp having dinner and post it up will full on slo-mo strike footage. I even had the GoPro all charged up, a perfect tasty rat thawed out. I even blow dryed the thing to make it extra scented and tasty. We get the rat ready, everyone is standing around, the time has come. That is when I drop the rat into the water bowl. There was hint of blood on the rats snout which makes the snake extra excited. She is homing in on the meal and I'm not reaching in to retrieve the now submerged rat. So, we watch. She goes right to the bowl and strikes it perfectly underwater. Coils, holds, and ends up a bit in her dish with her head out of water holding a soggy rat. After a minute or two she drags it out and swallows it down. I suppose she is now a little extra hydrated. Lesson learned, don't hold the rat over the water dish. Next week, I'll get it right.
