    Power out in Toronto

So, the power is out and the city said it could take up to 72 hours to restore power to the entire city.

My house is getting cold (50 degrees f) and we are all bundled up. I can stand it but my poor snakes

I boiled some water and put it into a smaller tupperware, I also had to put my pastave boy and pastel girl together to share the heat since I don't have too many appropriate sized containers to put water into. They seem to be doing just fine and I only have to change the water out once every 3-4 hours or so. My big normal girl isn't doing so well though. She is getting very lethargic and her water seems to be cooling way faster (different container). I heated up a brick to put into her water container but figured I'd check here for other methods before I go ahead with that.

    Thanks

Put the one having issues staying warm into a snake bag or pillowcase and wear her under your shirt next to your skin. Works for 1 or 2 critters, but if you have racks full of snakes or an incubator running you really need a backup generator.

Having them in a room with lots of candles can help more then you would think. I had the power out once in the winter and I put about 15-20 tea light candles on a baking sheet and stuck it in my reptile room and closed the door and the room eventually started getting too hot.

If you can get some candles do it in te smallest room possible (bathroom maybe?) so it would be easier to warm up.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Ajja managed to squeeze behind the background in her tank a while ago, and was back there without any heat for at least 7 or 8 hours. When I came home she felt like an ice cube! Stuck her in my shirt for a while and she warmed back up nicely. Just one warning though... Use a pillowcase or snake bag. Cold snake on bare skin is REALLY cold.
