How much altogether would a rack system cost me?

I want to eventually breed two BP's and I know that it's not feasible to do in aquariums. How much should I expect to spend on a setup?

Also could I cut cost and buy those plastic bin setup that they have at walmart?

Um well that depends entirely on the choices you make. Tstat depending on what type and how many racks you want to run off of it could cost you between 100-350. The actual rack expense would depend on how many tubs you want, what size tubs, and the maker. You could save money by building your own rack. There are threads for that in the DIY section. I would not use a plastic rack from Walmart because a snake will get out of those or stuck between the drawers. Now if the drawers have lids that might work, but I haven't seen ones that do. I think you're referring to the plastic drawer organizers, if not then disregard what I just said.

Then of course you have to factor the heat tape into it. Some manufacturers include it some don't and if you build your own you'll have to buy it and snake it through the rack, or wire each strip together, or have seperate T stats for each level.

So really it's a hard question to answer. My advice is to look into doing it yourself or shop by manufacturer. C serpents, reptile basics, animal plastics, etc.

The bins at Walmart and the like are not secure. If they were you could bet we would use them. Every system like that has gaps over the drawer when closed. This would allow your snake to crawl out and usually escape out the back. Or the snake could get stuck and then injured when you open the drawer.

Just a guess but I would say your looking at between $500 to $600 for a 3 to 5 tub rack with heat tape and thermostat.
All you will need then is hides and water dishes.
If you build your own, look in the diy section, some members have built some cool racks.

You could always come to the dark side (well the dark side of the dark side) All I have are tubs...no racks..no hotspots...no worries. My snakes are in a room kept at certain temps and the tubs are just stacked on top of one another Other than the cost of keeping a room at a set temp you would only have to drop around $30 for housing / hides / and bowls if you want them.
