I doubt you killed the good one by rolling it. You may be able to start seeing movement soon when candling, so give it a couple days and then check (was day 33 for me, but could have been sooner as I was just checking once a week). Of course just because they can move doesn't mean they will, but it's possible you'll catch it wiggling. Personally I would leave the questionable one in there until you're absolutely certain it's fully dead (as in stinky and rotting), just let them sit and keep cooking. That's all you can do at this point (and keep your chin up too ).

Thanks for the affirmation, I'm sure it seems silly to those who are experienced breeders but, I'm just a little hypersensitive with these last couple of eggs. It's been dismal so far with four out of six eggs dying so I'm freaked out at the slightest misstep hoping I can get at least one to the finish line.

Pardon the slight off-topicness of my question. But what exactly is done when "candling" an egg? I keep getting the image of holding the egg up to a candle to see what's inside.

That is basically exactly what it is, Viper. When candling an egg, in this instance, one uses a very bright, small flash light against the egg in order to check for veins and/or movement within the egg to make sure they are still healthy and viable.

It's not silly at all (not that I'm a super experienced breeder), we all want to see the little guys grow and hatch and thrive, and it's hard to have to sit on the sidelines and not be able to do anything.

Mistakes happen, live and learn. Keep your head up and remember every breeder was once new and has made a mistake. Hope the last 2 make it!

I'm terrified that I just may have killed the one good egg!

Secondly there is still one other perfectly white egg that looks beautiful however it candles white/yellow and has no veins whatsoever.

Should I get rid of that one, and what do I do to make sure the one that rolled isn't ruined?

    Worst first clutch experience ever!

I'd hold on to the second egg just incase, maybe the veins are very small or the eggs are a little far behind...if it doesn't smell then keep it around til your other pips. Fingers still crossed for you my friend!
I have only had one clutch, and with that clutch I used hatchrite right out of the bag, a light grate, and press n seal...little bit of condensation in the beginning, but i put a CD case under one side of the tub in order to make the condesation roll down and not drip on to the top of the eggs-everyone hatched on day 56 nice n big.
humidity was a steady 99% the hole time at 88-90 degrees.

    Re: I has eggs!!!

So it's day 54 and I cut the last remaining egg of the six egg clutch. The other five were ALL infertile and all went bad. This was my only baby to make it through!

It APPEARS to me, that it is a pastel but I can't see enough of the pattern to really say just yet. I guess I'll just have to wait until this baby is ready to come out & play!
