    Help!!!

Hey everyone! I have a ball python named Lucy Loo. She is 2-3 years old. My problem is she hasn't eaten since August. Last time she ate it was a very large one, and I am afraid she might of got hurt in the mouth. That is the only explanation I can find. Although it doesn't look like it. I have tried to feed her every other week. I have tried feeding at different times, different sizes, different colors of rats. I have tried basically everything people suggest. I think she is losing weight, but how do you tell? I have a vet app for her on Monday at 10:30 am. That is the soonest I can get her in. Also I have tried soaking her is warm water as I did that, I felt her abdomen and she doesn't seem to be constipated. (it is very smooth and squishy) and I have changed her bedding to a coconut based dirt to help with the moister. She is in a 45 gallon tank with 75w reptile bulb, and a homemade hide a way for her plus a water dish. Back to the mouth hurting thing. When I saw her eat the mouse her mouth was completely distended and it looked really painful. I don't know maybe I am being to paranoid, but I am still taking her to the veterinarian on Monday. Any thoughts or suggestion on what I should do and what to say to the veterinarian on Monday.

How big is she? Any pics? If she's around 1000 grams she may have hit the wall. Stopped eating for a few months.

Have you been trying live or f/t feeders? Has anything changed in or around her tub/tank/enclosure?

For weight, you can use a digital scale and monitor weight that way: my scale was $15 at Walmart. It's best to weight right after a snake passes stool, but since yours is probably empty I would weigh her now and monitor her weekly/every couple weeks for weight loss.

I would think if she hurt her mouth from her last feed she would be showing signs of an infection inside her mouth making her not eat: I'd have your vet check insider her mouth if you can't open her up yourself.

Giving her soaks can stress out snakes and make them go off feed too.

    Re: Help!!!

My phone is broken right now, so I cannot get pictures at the moment. I don't see anything around her mouth that indicates infection. Can she still have infection without seeing it on the outside. Also what are the signs of weight loss. Her spine is more pronounced and she has pretty loose skin what she coils up. She has app today at 10:30, my gut instinct is to take her in. I have been debating whether or not to do that, but something about her just seems off. I hope I am not being over paranoid, but she used to be such a great eater, and ate this time last year frequently. So this is not normal for her. I will keep you guys updated! I will also go ahead and order a scale for her. And yes I have tried live and F/T. :-) Thanks everybody for the replies!

Pronounced spine and loose skin would normally indicate weight loss, especially if she was round before. Hope the vet can give you some insite, if not I would triple check the husbandry. May offer a prey item a little smaller than she's used to.

    Go to the vet.

Then leave her alone, and offer once a week, and dont disturb her for the rest of the week, only for the next try. Make sure she has a hide and fresh water, and a temperature gradient. In my opinion the cool side is as important as the hot spot. Sometimes people just keep rising temps and thats not good.

That is waht I would do. Good luck.
