Well after several years of being a keeper, I am putting together a nice solid breeding stock (nothing ground-breaking just "nice") some common, others not so...
Three main projects...
Python regius Genes: spider, pastel, albino, normal and combos. (hopefully adding mojave and lesser later on) (everyone is still a bit young so a good two seasons from now at least)
Morelia viridis localities: Aru & Biak (hopefully ready next season)
Eryx colubrinus Genes: anery and albino (my male is always ready for the ladies, he just needs me to add some lol)
Still not certain on Python reticulatus, my most diverse pair is a male GC het amel and a Tiger het amel. As long as the market stays decent and I have a moderate local demand in addition to across state sales then I will probably go for it. My girls and one boy should be ready in a good 14 months.
Side projects...
Morelia amethystina complex : currently one female Mollucan and a hatchling WC whose locality I am unsure of, looks Wermena, I am working through the taxonomy as I get more information in.
Eunectes murinus : plain and simple greens, really want to see if captive breeding can take out some of the feisty in them, plus CB stock is getting a little higher in demand...and let's face it, everyone has these guys on the bucket list.
Candoia aspera : A bit of an outlier but I really think Viper boas have a place in this hobby, I can really see these guys in multispecies vivariums with species like amazon tree boas in addition to being the new rosy boa (with higher humidity) once established.
Obviously all this is not happening anytime soon, I am preparing my quarantine tubs and restocking the med cabinet though. I think I am going to wait until the next round of fresh imports to acquire the actual specimens of the latter two species. It might take a bit more Benjamins to convince an importer to do some popping, but I think it's worth it...obviously no 100% guarantee though.
I am pretty set on my main projects and retics, but any advice/experience on the side projects are welcome.
