You could get a pastel and a pinstripe and make lemonblasts.

I myself have a pastel and a 100% het albino. I'm not sure on the value of snakes in your area but my pastel was £250 (but I got her for £175 as they had a deal on that day) and I got my het for £70 from a private seller.

I think the best thing to do is to go to a specialised reptile place and have your brother look through the morphs and handle a few in his price range to see which he prefers, this is what I did with my pastel although my budget was considerably lower first going in to the store. I think handling will help him decide as I think personality and how tame the snake is trumps the morph (personal opinion).

There are so many morphs available! As you can see from the link below the list is endless!

I wish you and your brother luck in finding the perfect ball python and look forward to hearing the results!

I would definitely scope out the WOBP morph list.
Some in that range would be pastel, Mojave, cinnamon, lesser/butter, pinstripe. Just to name a few

Definitely go the route of a show/expo if you want to see the different morphs in person.
Breeders (local or online) are another great option.

    Re: what to get...

around here we can get male pastels for about $50 and females for $75. if we would go for a pastel i would get the super pastel. At the hamburg show they were selling them for 125. he has gone to the shows with me a couple times but not since he has started thinking about getting into the hobby. i really would want him to get a two gene morph though, since there are some cheap ones. the last show i was at was selling pastaves for 225. do you know what other cheap two gene morphs are out there?

i agree with you about the personality. my first ball was a normal male who is a little baby. my second was a spider who was really nasty. she struck at anything that moved and would puff up and hiss. now shes as calm as my male.

I think I'm living in the wrong country for buying ball pythons! The price difference is remarkable! My little girl is lovely, a little timid but she's only around 4 months old. Took her first feed with me today (eventually)!!

I found when I went to get her that handling really helped, they originally got out a poss het pied which whilst handling I felt was a little too large for me to start with and the hatchlings felt a little too small for my own comfort. She was the perfect size and the perfect temperament and although she didn't initially feed it has only taken three attempts and she wolfed it down no problem! Now I have a larger male as well, I definately felt the "medium" sizing was for me but I think it really does depend on you personally

Have a good shop around and I'm sure you'll find the perfect, well mannered BP!!

Meanwhile I am going to try not to go for snake number 3.....People don't need to eat, right?

    Re: what to get...

same here. im always counting the days until the next show and its nice that i only live an hour away! at the last show all the way to the left a guy was selling SUPER cheap bps. super pastel for 125. pastave for 225. mojaves for 75. female pinstripe for 100. i wouldve came home with a bunch of snakes if i could.

prices in bps have really started to drop. male pieds are 450 and females are 550. at the beginning of the year they were like 200 more. its insane how quick prices drop.

i did the same thing with my female. i just kept handling here and shes just a baby. shes actually around by neck right now.

and what all darker morphs are there besides mojaves, black pastels and axanthics. he likes dark morphs (opposite of me)
