Best time to weigh in? Good progress?

When is the best time to weigh your snake. I just purchased a digital scale from Wal-Mart and I wanted to weigh her but she ate 6am this morning. Did that add extra weight? Oh yes, she weigh's in at 85 grams......is that good progress being 41 days old?

Yes, haha, that's going to add extra weight.

I try to weigh the day of feeding, before feeding. Or right after a big poo, before their next meal. Time of day isn't going to effect much.

Edit: Oh, and that sounds like good progress to me, but really depends on it's hatch weight. That's pretty varied.

I would bump her up to rat fuzzies. She seems like she's off to a great start!

I always weigh mine after they poo, and then plot it in excel. That way you can graph it and see potentially catch problems early.

Re: Best time to weigh in? Good progress?

I am a bit OCD with my snake data so my methods may not work for you. I personaly weigh my animals the day of feeding and also weigh their food items to get a percentage of the weight to prey weight. I aim for 10-15% if im just looking to allow them to grow at a normal pace, or closer to 20% if im trying to get a female up some weight. I log all this info then feed.

Yes weighing after feeding can give you a difference in growth data. It unlikely you will feed a prey item of exactly the same weight each feeding.

As far as her growth im not too sure. There is alot of variables. What her hatch weight was, what her prey weight was etc. Also i got my BPs just a little less heavy then yours so i cant speak to "normal" growth rates at that age.. Right noe my BPs are around 140-150g my female gaining 15-20g a week and my male gaining around 10-15 a week so far. To me though, sounds like you have a healthy female. I would just start weighing before meals to get more accurate data...

Yes she's probably less than the 85 you weighed her at. Weigh her the day before or the day of feeding before you feed
