First Time Breeder Questions
I'll try to make this as short as possible.... I am trying to breed for the first time (just started really pairing 6 weeks ago) and had a few questions.....
1.) How often do pairs lock? I've been doing the 3 day on/3 day off method (roughly) and have only witnessed 1 lock between the 2 pairs.
2.) I have never witnessed any behavior that would suggest that male or female is interested (tail wagging, etc.) when I introduce. How common is it that I would see this?
I have all the patience in the world, I'm just not sure if I should be seeing more "activity" and want to make sure I'm not going down a dead end.
Thanks

Re: First Time Breeder Questions
Glad to offer some advice:
1. varies ... I've had girls go preggo with 1-2 locks, and others re-absorb after 10+ locks
2. tail wagging? I've seen it a few times, its actually really cool. But breeding 14+ girls, don't have time to observe the mating dance. In your case, would not worry if you don't see these overt signs. But pay attention, don't worry so much about tail wagging, but do record locks ... I do. Also make sure your heat is <90degrees or you could kill off the sperm. I learned the hard way ...
3. patience - absolutely! I just had my Lav-Albino 66% PH Dream lock with my Dbl Het Dream after five fruitless years. So anything is possible, and they will surprise you.
hope this helps ... if you've seen locks already, then you are on the right trajectory! good luck!

Re: First Time Breeder Questions
Thanks a bunch. Since I've posted this I've observed several more locks from one of my pairs (go figure). I've never heard heard of the temp/killing off sperm thing. Is this legit? My hot spots are running around 88.
