    Shed/Color Change or something else..

Hi all, I'm new to the forums and somewhat new to Ball Pythons.. a friend of mine was given a cinnamon ball python and she couldnt keep it cause her mother hates snakes (irish lol) .. i've had him for the past 2 months, all was good until about a two weeks or so ago when i noticed that he had a couple blisters on his belly, looked like a burn from the UTH pad i dont have it touching the tank but sitting just under it, his belly was a little pink with 3 blistered scales, i popped the blisters and began giving him betadine baths, blisters and pinkness went away after 3 days of bathing him and applying polysporin.. now he seems to have an issue with his scales flaking off .. its not the entire scale, just the coloring on it seems to be peeling.. is this just a color change? or was this due to a poor shed? .. he went into a shed about week after i got him, i had the humidity between 65 and 70% the entire skin came off, but im not exactly sure if this is from a poor shed or color change or something else..

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Do you have pics of the scale changes? Do you have a thermostat on your UTH?

Just for future reference, I would not pop a blister on your snake (or anything, for that matter). Creating an open wound is just asking for infection. Blisters form for a reason, and are part of the healing process.

Are the scales flaking all over his body? Or is just in the previously blistered areas? Pics would definitely be helpful!

The flaking is from the Polysporin. Oil based ointments turn scales to mush and they will lose their coating or flake off entirely. It happens if you use too much ointment, which is why polysporin or neosporin isn't recommended to use regularly.

It should go back to normal in the next few sheds.

And get a thermostat to control your UTH asap. Until then, I wouldn't use your UTH. It's not safe.
