checking out info on breeders as a new buyer

ok im new and so far i have been doing research on breeders and so far 3 are on top of my list. I wont be buying till right around the first week of november so im sure stock will change. im looking to try to get a pastel i would like to get a female as i heard they get bigger but either one would do
the 3 are with my concerns

bhb just that its a big facility i watch there youtube videos and they seem great prices don't look that great of what i seen but it's still reasonable especially female's
(only heard 1 bad thing they don't use cold/hot packs is this true)
royal constrictor designs it looks like they have set prices and they feed according to color but it could just look that way to me
(haven't seen much but what i did read they were good)
underground reptiles well the cheapest so far but you know the saying you get what you paid for
    (heard bad and good)

if anyone have any recommendations i'll gladly look into them these are just the top 3 i found
    thank you

I would go with BHB they are great to work with and from my experience then do use heat/cold packs if they didn't then a lot of what is shipped would not make it.

My recommendation would be to shop the snake, not the breeder! Use the BOI to check on any potential sellers. But take a look around, see what's out there. Look at for sale ads here, and kingsnake.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

Got my pastel from royalconstrictors. Garrick works with a great line of pastels.

Re: checking out info on breeders as a new buyer

Years ago when I first started, I would only buy from the "big" breeders due to their name and easy to recognize websites. However, after seeing what is actually out there, I highly recommend shopping your local shows or looking at the feedback on breeders on this forum. Just like anything else in life, a lot of their price is due to their name. I know Brian and Garrick and both are quality guys with nice animals and would take good care of you. I just suggest not limiting yourself to big name breeders only. If you do decide to stay with a big breeder, I highly suggest you look at Justin Kobylka's snakes as well.

Not to bash underground reptiles but you can find far superior quality through breeders on kingsnake.com. Then just check the BOI. Brian and Garrick both have good quality animals. Look on out for sale forum as well. I know there are some excellent breeders here on our forums!

I think it is worth looking at some of the small hobby breeders. Brian and Garrick are great, but there is a lot more to this hobby than the big name breeders. You might even find some nicer looking pastels from hobbyist breeders!

I have done business with Tim Bailey (Bailey & Bailey reptiles) for a few years and have never had any issues.

I got a beautiful pastel from a hobbyist breeder named jon at precison pythons last year. Its got awesome blushing and is holding its color well. Currently buying more from him actually. Im just saying don't discount the smaller breeders, you can find great deals, good customer service, and beautiful snakes out there on places like fauna and kingsnake.com

Just look for the best example of the morph you can find.
