Pet stores are generally not cheap. You can find the same animal from a breeder for half of the cost or more.

Go to the Reptile Show in Anaheim this weekend. Great place to have fun, look at herps, and find deals off starter pets.

The pet stores around here sell Normals for $15-$30 (same price as the expos).

+1 for the reptile show because you at least get to talk with the breeder and ask any questions. Pet shops a lot of the time aren't even knowledgeable.

Go to the expo. The animals there tend to be healthier. Avoid buying from LLL. Every corn I have bought from them has died.

Just make sure you stay involved!! I hate buying animals for people because if they mistreat them or fall short of providing proper care I would feel so guilty for putting an animal in that situation. Has happened to me before - so I'm a little jaded on the subject LOL.

Wait you say it's your brother? i'm just going out on a limb that you live in the same house with parents? my advise would be to talk with your parents and ask them if it's okay first if you have not all ready done so and for there help as well because i'm sure a mom that's scared of snakes would NOT be happy if one was his party XD. and online prices ain't that bad.
