Unhappy What is this on his belly??

    Hi all.
I've had my first 7 month old ball python for about one month now and I'm starting to freak out..
I never had any problems with him and he eats really good and never been off food.
But for 2 days ago he acted really aggressive at me and wanted to bit me I had no idea why, but I think I know now..
Yesterday I notice something weird on his belly and when I tried to pick him up he got really nervous so I didn't want to hold him for too long so didn't get a change to take any picture of it but today he was all calm down so I took a few picture of it and I really hope you guys can help me out with this..
I'm so worried and don't know what to do, is it a burn or what is it? I have never notice that on his belly before so I think its only a few days old.. (he shed for little more than a week now)
The humidity is around 50-60% and he has an hot spot and one cool side, there is two hides for him too one in the cool side and one in the warm side. He has an big water bowl too and his bedding is exo terra snake bedding mixed up with exo terra soil.

If you want more picture I'll try to get some more, I just don't want to bother him too much for the moment.

And here is a pic on his clean side

The "burn" start from under his stomach and down. The rest of his belly is clean..

Re: What is this on his belly??

I don't know if that is a burn or not(someone else can chime in on that), but my first questions are:

    Are you using a UTH?

    Are you using a thermostat?

    Do you have a thermometer?

Yes I'm using a thermometer and the temp is all right but I'm worried that is has to do with the uth.. He likes to push all the bedding away so he lays on the glass over the uth (yes I have the uth under the terrarium) and maybe it gets too hot?

Tanner and snow both said it looks like a burn. With a burn, your UTH is getting too hot for the snake.

The UTH itself should not be getting more than 92-95ish degrees(this is what mine is at, others may have their UTHs at a different temp). This is so my snakes do not need to burrow to get to a hotter spot.

Can we assume you are not using a thermostat?

What kind of thermometer? A lot of people use and recoomend the accurite digital indoor/outdoor from wlamart. There should be a probe placed over/on the UTH while using a thermostat.

Re: What is this on his belly??

I'd unplug your UTH until you do have a thermostat controlling it.

You are catching it early which is good. So you can fix this without hurting the snake further.

Most recommended ways/items to control the temp of a UTH:

    Herpstat thermostat
    hydrofarm thermostat
dimmer switch (recommended for temporary use)

    Sorry I don't have links.

I'm using Exo terra liquid crystal thermometer, but i dont have a probe so I should get one asap. But what should I do for now til I get a thermostat and probe?
