    Mites

If my snake had mites would it be noticeable? I saw a tiny white bug on my snake and dont know what it is i use zoo med repti bark and i baked it before putting it in and i haven't noticed anything for the 5 months that I've used the substrate until now. Could it be a tiny spider or something? My snake is in my basement and there are lots of spiders and whatnot down there!

I too noticed a few tiny white insects crawling on my snake as well, they turned out to be wood lice. They are completely harmless to your snake as they feed on decaying wood and other organic matter.

Honestly from the reptibark and stuff like that I've noticed they have small bugs and other stuff sometimes. I have no idea what they are but they never seemed to cause any problems, but I did switch to aspen anyways.

Snake mites are black and look like poppy seeds. The juvi stages are brown, but almost invisible to the naked eye due to being so tiny.
