Eggs

My female is on day 34 after her prelay shed. I'm nervous cause I'm going camping with my family Tuesday. Which will be day 37.

She is in a tub and I'm worried about loosing the eggs when I'm gone.

Any tips?

Suggestions?

I'll be gone for a full week.

I would get someone lined up to watch, that could get the eggs in the bator for you, or see if there is a breeder nearby that would take her in while your gone. (They would know exactly what to do).

There is a thread posted just this morning from someone who found her girl on eggs after being gone 5 days and one looks like it may be a lost cause. And while the others look fine currently, who knows how consistant the temps have been while the mother was on them. Just my 0.02 since you asked.

People allow maternal incubation all the time. I would research what they do to prep their tubs, ie. making a lay box with moss, and then they'll be safe until you get back.

I had the same concerns before my girls laid. Just make sure your temps are right, 89 is recommended as with normal incubator and give her damp cypress mulch substrate to keep the humidity up while you're gone. If she's anything like my girls she will make you worry all week and then wont lay anyway

I've gone away for four or five days when I was expecting eggs. I would fill the bin with damp moss before I left. I've always come home and the eggs were fine.

Just make sure you can keep the humidity up and the temps super stable. She will likely lay them on the warm side.
