    My DIY snake hides.

I finally got around to going to the dollar store and picking up some tupperware to use as snake hides since I cant order from reptilebasics and the place here that does have reptilebasics hides charges $2 extra per hide then RB.

So I got all these :

I throw away the lids or use them for something lol

But I take a soldering iron and "melt" a entrance

then I take black paint (acrylic so its non toxic and easy to wash) and paint them all.

The only poopy thing is acrylic paint comes off the hides when I wash them. But I just touch them up with more paint.

Spray paint would be more logical but I dont feel its safe for my snakes.

So yay... my snakes finally get 2 hides instead of one and a paper towel roll (for the smaller bps)

Now I got some work today...
    - Joey

    No snakes anymore!

    Lightbulb Sand them first?

I know it might be a pain but if you used sandpaper, just enough to scuff the surface maybe the paint would stick better. It is fairly hard to get much to adhere to this type of plastic. Great idea though, thanks for sharing!

An idea for the acrylic paint since it's water based. Coat it with mod podge. Dries completely clear, non toxic, water proof, and a great sealant. Could be found at almost any craft store

    My DIY snake hides.

Krylon makes a spray paint for plastic that is non toxic. I've not had problems with it washing off
