Do ball pythons go into 'heat'?
So I was talking to a local breeder, I'm not sure exactly how knowledgeable he is as I just met him, and I he was telling the new owners of a BP (approximate age 2) that their BP was in heat and that's why she was being aggressive. I haven't heard of this and I just wanted to get my facts straight. So is this guy wrong or do they go in to heat?

Well, they do scent their cages when they are ready to mate, so I guess they kinda sorta do....kinda

ive never heard of any aggression due to scenting though..... sounds off to me.

Yeah, I agree. I don't know if aggression has anything to dow ith going into heat.

Technically no. Being "in heat" refers only to mammals in estrus. In a practical sense, could she be hormonally grumpy? Maybe. But there are a lot of other things that could be driving that behavior that you'd have to cross off the list first.

Good to know, I though as much. I don't plan on correcting him as I don't think he'll be willing to take any information from me and as I said before I don't know him well.
