    Anyone working with Faders?

I'm looking for a YB combo male to add to my collection and came across a pastel YB fader in my price range. Gorgeous animal but I have no experience with this gene, and I only found one discussion of it on another forum where the concensus was it seems to be a "combo" of genes that create a really bright or washed-out color, but on WoBP it's listed as dominant.

If it matters, planned pairings are to a specter, bumble bee, and a pewter.

Without having any hands on experience and limited research knowledge, I feel 'fader' is more of a polygenic trait that is line bred rather than something you can breed to any animal and half the babies will express it fully and the other half will not express it at all.

To my knowledge, it has never been isolated down to an animal carrying only the 'fader' gene. Although, my limited research on the subject may not be up to date.

After speaking to many larger breeders, it seems that the general consensus is that it really isn't a 'gene' and more of a line bred trait.

    Re: Anyone working with Faders?

Thanks, did some more research and looking around, and found a PYB that looks just as nice but w/o fader for half the price. He's arriving next week. Happy birthday to me.

I dont know, i think Fader is badly infested with the NERD-Sydrome. Which means it looks awesome, but you need to prove it independently for it to be more than NERD woo-woo. Isolating and figuring out genes from NERD is a bit like isolating and figuring out genes from the wild, except that NERD stacks these genes high and is in the realm of 6-8 genes per snake by now.

NERD is awesome, but the descriptions of what they do lack meaning.
