I use the heat tape from Reptile Basics (buy the tape and the connector kit). Once you get that wired and placed on your rack, then you need a thermostat to run it. I personally love Herpstats (I have a Herpstat 2) for thermostats. Reptile Basics also has some thermostats if you want to order one when you order your heat tape. I personally like the VE thermostats over the Johnson control.

I've got a similar setup. THG heat tape and a Herpstat 1. To determine what width and length you will need you have to consider the size of the animal, the size of the tubs, and what temperature is the room the rack will be in. I have a 6 tall 41qt rack, and each shelf has an individual piece of 12" wide and 15" long piece of heat tape. I chose the biggest because the rack is going into a relatively cool house (65-70 degrees). This way there is such a large surface area producing heat it will warm the air and provide an adequate cool side.

As for size, ALL of my heat tape is 3in or 4 in (I have 1 rack with 3 in and 2 racks with 4 in). If you want to use the 12 in heat tape for your 41qt tubs, you can do that. However, if you use different sizes of heat tape, you will need different thermostats to run each size.
