    Variation in Lessers

I haven't really done much research on lessers until now and I'm finding TONS of variation within the morph. Some are light and creamy, others have bright yellow, and some have dark browns...I'm looking at getting a lesser that I think is beautiful, but I want to breed eventually, so I want it to be a good quality example of the morph. So what's the deal? Is the dark versus light shading of different lessers a matter of personal preference or does one follow more of a standard?

    Thanks!!
    ~Mary

I think with every morph it's all about personal preference. For me, I like bright lessers with lots of contrast and as reduced a pattern as possible. But that's what I like. I know a guy who likes really dark lessers. It's all about breeding what YOU like.

    Re: Variation in Lessers

It is personal preference. I personally like reduced patterned lessers with yellows that are high contrast.

But also have in mind what kind of morphs you're breeding the lesser too. Some lessers complement other morphs better than others.

    Re: Variation in Lessers

Lessers and butters can vary quite a bit. Here is my butter.

And my pastel lesser. He with age, has gotten more creamy looking.

It all boils down to personal preference. Normally I like a more reduced pattern. But I loved this guy.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

I like lighter lessers/butters with more reduced pattern. Here's my butter girl:
