Curious Question about follicle growth/reabsorbing
Okay. Most of you know I'm anxiously awaiting either one of my girls to ovulate
One of my females (who I thought would have ovulated by now) was moved about 1 1/2 hours back in January. She was paired since October. Could that have caused her to reabsorb and now she's rebuilding? I can feel golf-ball sized follicles in her now. Could it be that she's just taking her own sweet time?
Just posing some questions for thought.
edit: FAIL ON THE TITLE :/ It was supposed to say "curious"

Re: Curious Question about follicle growth/reabsorbing
Hi,
They can certainly take their time - but I don't think I've seen any that produced two sets of follicles in the same season.
I edited the title for you as well.

Thanks!
She's a virgin female, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. The other female who's been paired since January is quickly approaching her in follicle size

Pairing has not been proven to affect follicle growth. There is anecdotal speculation that it affects it. Things like natural rhythm, weather, pressure, etc. could also have an impact. If it does, there definitely isn't a direct correlation. How experienced are you with palpating? I had a female that was paired since October ovulate last week. The other that was started at the same time ovulated about 40 days ago.

Definitely not very experienced. It's my first go at breeding. I've gotten better since I started, but I'm still not great. I wish I had an ultrasound machine!
The female is still accepting one of my males...so I know she hasn't ovulated. However, she's laying partially inverted (occasionally) and is parked on the hot side most of the time. She's shed 1/4, 2/4, 3/14, and 4/28. She went off feed as of two weeks ago.
