Egg cutting
So, I've seen people who cut their eggs open at 50 or 52 or 55 or 60, but what are the perks of each date? Is it just preference? I only ask because this Friday is day 51 for my clutch, and I was thinking of going ahead and cutting them to see what my odds are. Any suggestions on this?

Egg cutting
If its your first clutch, don't do it. Tbh, I don't think I'd ever cut a clutch. The only reason most do is to see what they've got.

I think you should wait till they start pipping, then if you really "need" to cut them then make cuts with flaps.
The pro of cutting IMO is to save a baby that may not have an egg tooth.

Re: Egg cutting
I wouldn't do it. There were a couple threads last year that cut the eggs and they went bad and the little babies died. I would wait until after the hatching date. I am not sure which thread it was under but it was heart breaking. Make sure if you do that you sterilize blades.

Cutting opens the inside of a good egg to a moist warm environment that is susceptible to bacteria growth. The earlier you cut, the more potential problems you have. I have stopped cutting eggs completely and find that my babies seem stronger and eat quicker. It is just my observation and there is no scientific proof that cutting weakens the neonate, that I know of. In any case, when I did cut, I cut around day 57.
