Correct me f I am wrong, but I believe snake mites actually need a host to complete their life cycle. They don't just randomly appear like a mosquito...snake mites are passed from snake to snake (hence the need for QT with a new animal brought in from a breeder or store), not snake to ground to tree to snake...

Even with that being said, yeah my kids are as sterile as an operating room. but I know a lot of people who do glamor shots in trees, flowers, around wine bottles, and just about anywhere you could imagine...not for me though.

    GREAT pics though...

Eggs can travel around and lie dormant until the right conditions arise. But you are correct that the mites themselves need a host to survive.
