    suggested breeders?

So I've been interested in purchasing a boa, Columbian red tail BCI to be exact. I'm having a tough time finding breeders with 2013 litters (I know, it's still early in the year), and only a few with some really nice 2012's. Can anyone recommend some breeders for me? If I can't find one, I may pick up a suriname from Gus (rio bravo) since he has some awesome ones available right now.

At the risk of stating the obvious, if you're at first stating you want a Colombian BCI and then later saying you'll 'settle' for a Suri (BCC), you're looking at two entirely different animals and two entirely different care intensities.
With that out of the way, you obviously know of Rio Bravo, another great breeder is Vin Russo of Cutting Edge Herps. The Diaz family of Legacy Reptiles is another boa breeder with a good reputation, and a great facebook page.

It's not that I'd be settling for a suri, it's more of i'd prefer a Colombian. I understand their entirely different animals I also have talked to Vin but if memory serves me right he doesn't have much available, I could be wrong, though. I'll have to check out Legacy, thank you!

Primareptillia has some available $150 i believe from huge parents. I almost bout one, but Legacy Reptiles had a Barranquilla Colombian my kids and I liked a touch more.

Try them, I believe there were 2 males and a female or 2 still unsold. 2013's

    Try this

There truly is a lot out there. But the 2013 babies may not be too forthcoming quite yet. Some litters have only just been born and some females haven't gone yet. And now is the time when many breeders are looking over the litters they DO have and are making decisions about holdbacks. Give it a few more weeks or even a couple of months and you'll start to see a LOT more 2013 babies available!

No offense, but if you'd rather have a Colombian, then you absolutely should get a Colombian. BCCs are a whole other ball of wax from a BCI. They are much more sensitive to husbandry and tend to have a penitent for regurging if things aren't just right. I personally would not get one unless you are totally in love with Surinams and that is your FIRST choice for a boa. Just be patient - there are LOTS of great BCIs out there!

A few nice breeders for you:

Michael Masters (find him on facebook - to make sure you find the right "Michael", his cover picture is an emerald tree boa wrapped around an apple) - he has several very nice 2012 BCIs available right now. I recently picked one up from him and am extremely happy with the transaction. He's very responsive and professional.

Tim Koppenhoffer, www.SpecialKReptiles.com - has some outstanding babies available, both 2012 and 2013.

Gus Rentfro usually has more cooking than just BCCs. If he has Suris available now, he'll likely have some BCIs available very soon.

Legacy Reptiles may well have some nice 2013s shortly.

JimiSnakes, www.jimisnakes.com - great guy. He has a very few 2012s left. These are really nice snakes for a good price. In fact, he has a 2012 male anery 100% het vpi T+ available right now for $175. That is an excellent deal and that baby is pretty spectacular....

Manny at Perfect Predators - he ALWAYS has babies available. There were some negative remarks made awhile ago about Manny on the BOI, but my transaction with him earlier this spring was perfect. I also know several others who've bought from him and were very happy. I think he's straightened out. My leopard het albino male is perfect in every way and was perfectly packaged. And Manny answered all my questions. He has some expensive stuff, but there's quite a lot that's priced very reasonably - you just have to browse around his website a bit.

My favorites are Mike Weitzman at basically boas he has a huge selection and has great prices. I have made over 15 purchases with him. www.basicallyboas.com Jim Reed who is under Mike Weitzman wing has a decent size selection and awesome prices www.jimisnakes.com Also chris gilbert, Ive made several purchases with him he doesn't have much selection but he has top quality www.gilbertboas.com Also tom burke at www.burkereptiles.com been in the business forever!! has a great reputation. There are a few gems that you can mainly find on facebook, chaz schilens (yes the football player) he has by far the best collection I have ever seen he goes by lowkey boas on fb and is having a great yr! kevin stewart on fb, one of chazs best friends and also having a great yr very up front guy. Jeremy wrede also on fb, its his first season he already has a great rep and has had killer litters!! sean griffis is like the middle man of the boa world, looking for something hell find it for you lol great guy and is easy to work with! who I would never do business with the boa master, Manny Frade, Kevin Manning, Christopher boas I wont state why as its not that type of thread. the 2 that will have what your looking for most likely would be mike Weitzman and Jeremy wrede at the moment. you can also search ads on kingsnake.com
