Exclamation HELP!..New 5 month Old Snake shedding after only having for 4-5 days!!

Okay, was curious if someone could chime in and let me know what I should do right now with this situation. I just got this snake last Sunday, so going on 5 days now...that snake had signs of shedding when I picked it up...the snake is only 5 or so months...and now its getting acclimated to new environment and your not supposed to touch them or anything for a while, so this little one has picked a hell of time to start shedding for me! LOL so I bumped up humidity to 75-85% give or take and watched this little one do the head rub and start peeling off! Its going on right now, and this is very rare for me to see this at such an early stage in the game ive read!! Im curious as what my next steps are...normally i would take the snake out and give it a little bath in a tub of shallow water and keep the humidity up and fresh water available for the next 24 hours, and then even possibly offer a meal after shed, so Ive read, but this snake has already been offered a meal and declined, and has spent the last few days in the hides...showed all signs of getting ready to shed...

So, im a little confused on what I should to here! LOL someone please chime in asap please!

    Thanks all!

That's cool! No need for soaking, just take the shed out and leave her alone for a couple days, then offer food. She should be extra hungry after feeding.

Thanks Chloe! Yeah, she seems to be settling down right now and hasnt moved much in the hide...compared to about 25 minutes ago! lol nice wide open mouth stretches and lots of rolling and rubbing and inching through old skin...cant see right now, but from what i did see, it looked like she had nice long pieces coming off as one...but she is too cuddled up in her cool side hid right now....Humidity is up and heat looks good on all sides, so getting through it hopefully! So, should I still offer a meal even though she refused a few days ago and still hasnt been acclimated too well yet? Just dont want to jump the gun ya know?

I'd give her 5 days from when you last offered. They're always starving after shedding and babies are always hungry anyways. Offer a prey item 10-15% of body weight in enclosure and I really doubt you'll have any issues.

Re: HELP!..New 5 month Old Snake shedding after only having for 4-5 days!!

Thank you for the guidance...the snake seems to be acclimating pretty well! Very excited! Ill offer a fuzzy live rat first out the gate especially with so many factors in my corner to get her to eat for me for the first time...this gives me an opportunity to get her going on rats, and im sure she will appreciate a good tasty rat to help her get into her new skin! LOL

    Thanks again!

No soaking before a shed! You can actually make a shed go worse if you soak, as it pulls all the natural oils out of the skin. Humidity should be 50-60% normally, and bumped up to about 60-70% during shed. Only soak if they have a bad shed and need a little help getting the rest off.

I was in a similar situation earlier this week, I had thought about posting and asking when I should attempt to feed her, since I just got my first bp. So no need for me to post now lol.

I bought her on Sunday, on Tuesday I got home from work, checked on my temps, because for some reason I feel the need to be checking them nearly hourly right now even though they don't change much. I decided to open the tub up, and found her coiled up in the corner, and the paper towel all brown, then as I was trying to see what was going on she moved off to a hide, and underneath her was a shed, and fresh poop for me to clean up lol. As she moved off, I seen the fresh shed tear so I saw it was in one nice piece.

So based on what I saw, I guess I will wait until this weekend, and offer her some food.
