Another shed after pre lay shed?

I bought a huge normal female 5000 grams from a breeder a couple of weeks ago. He had bred her with his super pastel and his clown. He said she had ovulated and had her pre lay shed April 23 so that puts her laying her eggs May 19. My question is, yesterday I checked her and she is about to shed, can females shed again after the pre lay shed. Thanks

Females can shed twice while gravid. It doesn't happen very frequently, but it does happen. 5000g is huge. Have you felt her for eggs at all?

My question would be, why would a "breeder" sell a 5000g female that is about to lay either all pastels, all Het Clowns, or a mixture of both...

I agree, from a breeders standpoint it doesn't seem like a very bright idea.

Do you have pictures of her? If shes indeed that close to laying, you should be able to detect eggs by gently feeling along her belly.

Re: Another shed after pre lay shed?

Thanks for the reply, when I said he was a breeder I meant was a hobbiest. He is a police officer that was working on a clown project so he bred with his male clown. Since then he jumped ahead and purchase a pastel clown female and didn't want to have just pastels or het clown to feed. I've known him for a good while. She is huge, I'll try and palpate her tonight and put a pic of her. Thanks again
