Sand boa- She's gotta be pregnant, right?

She's been in with a male for about a year, and I haven't actually seen mating but I've assumed it happened since she's been slowly getting bigger. She eats like a horse, and over the last few days it seems like everything has moved down a little, and she's especially round. I got her to hold still long enough to show the big difference in size from her regular body, to the end!

Here's the pics, one with flash one without, let me know what you guys think!

Ugh, I'm in the same position as you with my sand boa girl! I bought her as possibly gravid. When I received her she looked very gravid. 6 months went by, no babies. Now 10 months have gone by and still none. She looks exactly like your girl does when I lift her up. I contacted the breeder and he said that sometimes it can take a year for big girls to drop their babies. It will be a year in June. He said that if they look super lumpy when yo lift them up, then they are gravid. But, I'm now having doubts. Still crossing my fingers though.

Whats her behavior like? Usually gravid girls seek the hot side and eventually go off feed the closer they get to dropping. They are very unpredictable with births as well.

She's been eating, but has she been pooping? I would go to the vet just because I like to be on the safe side.

Also why are you holding her like that?

She is eating and pooping regularly. I'm holding her by the middle of her body, she's draped across my hand and arm(I realize you can't see her head, so it may look like I'm holding her by the neck I guess), she was not in distress, and it was only for maybe 30 seconds while I took the two photos. It was the best way to show her body shape difference.

Thank you for the replies. I got paranoid that it might be an impaction, but I think it's just because they can take so long to gestate. But she is very active, eating, and pooping regularly.

Oh wow I didn't realize they got that long! I always say if you've got a good vet and the finances a paranoid visit isn't a bad thing.

Yep She's a big girl! The males stay almost half the size of the females.
