New BP
Hey all,
So I am now a BP owner. I have already had 2 corns, and have always wanted a BP. And before it is brought up, yes the BP is being quarantined in the bedroom(the corns are in the living room in their viv's). We were at Petsmart last night, and we got to talking to the associate about the BP they had in the display and I got to feeling a little bad for it. We have not sexed it yet, and will wait until he gets used to his viv before we stress him out by trying so....so I will just refer to it as him for now. He is, at my guess, 16ish inches long and 117g. The girl at the store said that they had just been feeding him pinkys. I know that pinkys are WAY too small for him. What size feeders do you recommend? My guess was possible hoppers, but please let me know. However, they have had him for 3 weeks and he has eaten that little appetizer every week like clockwork. So he seems to be a pretty decent eater. Also, he had a few little spots of retained shed....probably about a dozen spots where it seems that 3-4 scales are still stuck on those spots. I am trying to help him by giving him some soaks to get those little bit of scales off. I felt a little bad for him, so I decided to pick him up so I can put him in better and proper conditions. Also, he has a very sweet and inquisitive temperament and my girls just absolutely fell in love with him. Here are some pictures to follow. Also, to note: I currently have a basking light keeping the tank warm, however, this is ONLY until my hydrofarm arrives Tuesday from Amazon. Then he will have the Reptitherm UTH+Hydrofarm combination. We are also using reptibark for the substrate per some recommendations here so as to help with the moisture.

And his new viv:

Nice, and congrats. Hoppers should be fine to step up to. Also with such small amount of stuck shed I wouldn't stress him/her with soaking. Just keep your proper conditions and that should take care of itself with the next shed.

Wow, small world Luc. I see you are from Anderson. We are from Williamston, and this guy was picked up from the Petsmart on Clemson Blvd.

Yeah they have given questionable information in the past, not to mention walking in there and seeing 4 bearded dragons piled on top of one and they think its "cute"....when that one will probably not make it in the end.
