    Harve de Grace, MD

I am not sure where to post this but since I'm interested in ball pythons, I'll post my question here.

Has anyone ever attended the Harve de Grace, MD show before? Is it worth going? Thanks.

i went in february, and i thought it was a pretty good show. not too big, never got too crowded. i got a nice pastel for 60 when it was listed at 75. didnt even have to barter with the guy he took the price down himself. what are you looking for when you go there? anything in particular?

You might want to read this thread I posted asking about it earlier this month:
    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-de-Grace-4-13

As is mentioned in that thread, you might also want to look into the Repticon show that is held in Timonium in May and in the fall sometime, or the Hamburg, PA show, which is held every month or 2 IIRC. Both of those are bigger shows than Havre de Grace.

I ended up not going last month, so I still haven't been in over 2 years. However, from what was said in that thread and the response you've gotten here, I think it is about the same as when I have gone in the past. Fairly small show, limited, if any super high end stuff. Also limited if you are looking for less common species. But if you are looking for low end to medium value BPs, you'll definitely find some there. It won't be too crowded, so the vendors will have time to talk to you. The times I have been there, there was always at least one vendor selling feeders and there was a vendor who sells supplies (wider selection and better prices than you'll find at petsmart or petco).

Is it worth going? Depends on what you are looking for and how far you have to drive to get there. It takes me close to 2 hours to get there, but the times I've gone I found it to be worth it, regardless of what I did or did not find to purchase. The experience of looking at a bunch of reptiles up close and in person as well as talking with other reptile people is something I enjoy, and worth the price of admission and the time & costs to get there.

I see. I am looking for female albino (if I can get two gene albino, that'd be awesome) and a genetic stripe. Also, I have my eyes out for a high end firefly male.

I am planning on going to the Timonium show. I was just wondering if it is worth $7.00 and the trip to Harve de Grace (I live about 45 minutes away).

    Thanks.

    Re: Harve de Grace, MD

I live about 35 mins from that show
and rarely go to it. I always get disappointed. If you're looking for an albino female, you MIGHT find one there. Genetic stripe? Maybe...Tim K from special K reptiles usually has some nice genetic stripe stuff, but he vends at Hamburg. If you wanna find for sure what ur looking for, Id go to Hamburg. Course, you can always check for a vendor list for Havre de grace....contact them n see if they got what you want and will bring it to the show.Sent from my H866C using Tapatalk 2

I go occasionally, mostly just for a fun thing to do on a weekend. I think my fiance got his spotted python there. As mentioned before its not huge by any means of the word.. its kind of a mixed bag in my opinion.. you might run into something good.. but I dont think I would go with something in mind. If you have ever been, I feel like the Manassas show is similar.

I live in San Diego but I will be visiting my parents so I thought I'd swing by the east coast show. I will check into Special K Reptiles. Thanks.

If you're going to be in the area, get ahold of Pete Kahl and let him know what you're looking for. I'm not sure if he goes to the shows but you can find his contact info on his website http://www.pkreptiles.com Unfortunately he hasn't updated the site in about 2 years (so don't let the prices scare you), but he has a MASSIVE collection and is a great guy.

    Re: Harve de Grace, MD

I'm new to the hobby, so I may be overly excited about these sorts of things, but I've been to the Have de Grace show twice, the Richmond Show once, the Manassas show twice and the one near Tidewater Va once - all in the last 5 months! So far, I think they are all about the same - many of the same vendors, but others uniqe to each show. I've seen some pretty High-end stuff at each show too. I actually got my Super Lesser (BEL) and Het Pied pair at the Harve de Grace show - Not that they are high-end or anything. I think the time of year you go has a lot to do with what you will see too.
I live in South Alexandria VA and it's a 2+ hour drive for me and I'd go again if I could. Unfortunatly, I have to work the weekend of their next show. I'm glad they have one every month or so.
45 mins away - GO! Enjoy! for me - it's worth the $7. Heck, you spend that for lunch!
