    Ambient temperatures in snake rack

So I am going to build a 4 tub high 41qt snake rack (with belly tape) for my new BP's, my question is ambient temps!!! The rack is going to be in my room and I don't want to heat my whole room to 80 degrees to maintain ambient temps. Can I put a heat blanket over the rack to keep the ambient temps higher? Or is there any other way to keep the rack warmer without warming the whole room? Ang help would be greatly appreciated!

you could put a door on the front of the rack. i've seen that done and hear it helps a lot. i keep my snakes in my bedroom at 75 though and all my critters are thriving.

Re: Ambient temperatures in snake rack

A door sounds like a really good idea. The only reason I want the ambient temps perfect is because I'm breeding expensive BP's so I want to make sure everything is perfect. Do you think if the ambient temp is around 75 it will affect them breeding at all?!?!?

If you are that invested just heat the room. Far easier and efficient. How would you control a heating blanket? What if it malfunctions? 75 is the dead coolest it allows little margin for variation. I personally would suggest for best results use the temps most use. Basically 80 ambient temps.

If you put a door you will not be giving them any kind of light cycle. That can mess your breeding plans up.

I second that the heating blanket is a bad idea.

It would probably be worth it to add more belly heat to the cool side and keep it at 80. That is if you are not willing to heat the room. I started this with a oil filled heater and it has really made things easier.
