I agree, wait a few days, then drop in a live. Thing is to get him comfortable in his new surroundings first then try the lifestyle change. Most will eventually switch, but it does take patience. I usually thaw mine in warm water for 30 minutes in a ziploc, replace with fresh warm water and soak another 30 minutes. Remove from the ziploc, grab the rat by the back honchos with my forceps, warm the head under a heat lamp (or blast with a hair dryer) for about 15-30 seconds then gently wiggle in front of them. Sometimes it does take a little while for them to pick up on the scent and heat from the rat, but so far, all of mine have switched...My Normal won't even take it from the forceps. I wiggle for a minute or two, then lay it down on her hide. She slithers over and strikes and coils...I guess she's too good for the forceps

Thanks! It helps to own a full cabinet shop, and to be owed favors by painters. I am hoping the "niceness" of it will inspire my son to take care of it and it's inhabitant. As for orders we'll see about that. Maybe I can start including snake enclosures with every kitchen purchase!

OK, OK. I'll be patient. I might get some plants in the mean time and "close in" the area a bit. He seems to hide in his cool side most of the time, which I know is probably normal.

I just switched mine without any issue from live to frozen,
i put a curtain around his window, mine is also a cabinet.
He just needed some alone time with the rat. He did pass by it a few times before eating it tho.
I may just be lucky with a good eater!
