I was thawing a hopper mouse under a 100 watt red incandescent bulb while I was showering. When I came back the mouse looked fine and thawed. I moved it so I could take the top off the cage to feed cthulhu and I saw it drippin liquid. It smelled like tuna and vomit. I took the hide and plant the juice landed on and rinsed it well. I then wiped the mouse with a paper towel and fed him. He had the juice all over him and the feeding tub was a mess. It looked like watermelon was crushed and thrown on him. I rinsed him down and washed the tub. I am worried that the mouse guts will harm him in some way internally or regurgitating the meal since I handled him to wash him in the bathroom tub. Should I be worried?

I think it was just from delicate mouse innards that broke down during thawing. I don't think he'll regurgitate it.
I even pick mine up after she swallows to check for any bites or scratches.

You have a gift for imagery. Night munchies aren't an issue for me now. Your use of watermelon as a descriptive device was quite powerful.

I mean, and if my logic is flawed I apologyze, but it just sounds like your snake didn't consume anything out of the ordinary. A thawed rat isn't going to bleed like a fresh one would. Frozen seem to wilt and "sweat" when thawed. I personally wouldn't worry.

Your snake should be fine. He will actually have a slightly easier time digesting it since it was already opened, and the short handling afterward shouldn't be a problem.

The problem was the way you thawed. If you put a frozen mouse into hot water or under a heat lamp, the outsides will be too hot before the inside is even thawed. Being too hot weakens/cooks the skin, which makes it more fragile, hence the leaking.

The best way to prepare food is the same way you should for humans. Either put the food item in the fridge the night before or put it in COLD water until the entire mouse is thawed through (changing water as it comes to room temp). Then you can put into hot water for a few minutes (or under the lamp) until it is warm.
