Cage Smell

I just finished spot cleaning Cthulhu's cage since he laid a turd in his hide and I don't want scale rot for him. I took a chuck out of the bedding around the soiled area. I washed the hide with liquid hand soap and rinsed it well. The cage still has a poo/urine smell. I use cypress mulch and I always keep it dry. Should I change to a different bedding? I really wouldn't mind but I would rather use mulch because it's just more aesthetically pleasing for me. The humidity is never a problem since I have different working tactics. I would have to wait a bit tho to change the substrate.

I use cypress mulch in a few cages. When I spot clean I remove the substrate all the way to the cage floor. The urine will soak in and make it to the floor. If you don't remove it all it will still smell.

I use a mixture of cypress mulch and ground coconut bark in most of my cages (boas and balls). Whenever they poo or I notice a wet spot from urine, I take out the wet stuff and a few inches around it and wipe the floor with a paper towel dampened with Windex. Then I arrange the bedding to cover the empty spot. Once a month I completely dump all bedding, clean out with Windex, then replace with new bedding. I never have any problems with smell or mold.
